Farm to School Cooking Conference

Asheville, North Carolina

ASAP’s upcoming Cooking Conference will kick off another year of the Farm to School Cooking Program. In dynamic workshop sessions, chefs, community volunteers, and teachers will gain the information they need to bring successful cooking classes to students. The conference is open to individuals from Buncombe and Jackson counties. Join us for this exciting day of learning and connect with chefs and teachers in your community!

The cost of the one-day conference is $15 and includes a light breakfast and lunch featuring delicious food from local farms.

What happens at the Farm to School Cooking Conference?

Conference Schedule
8:00 am-8:30am: Sign-in and breakfast

8:30-9:15 am: Welcome
Elizabeth Brazas, Community Foundation of Western North Carolina
Recognition of 2011 Farm to School Cooking Program Leaders

9:30-10:45 am: Workshop Session 1
Foundations (required for new chefs, teachers, and volunteers)
What’ s Fresh?: Cooking from the Farm
Connecting to Curriculum

11am-12:20pm: Workshop Session 2
Foundations (required for new chefs, teachers, and volunteers)
Cooking with Younger Children (Pre-k through 1st Grade)
Get Local with Cooking Classes

12:30-1:45pm: Local Food Lunch
Connect and network with teachers and chefs

2:00-3:30 pm: Optional School Garden Networking and Information Sharing
