Growing Vegetable Soup by Lois Ehlert. An introduction to the garden for young folks.
Jack's Garden by Henry Cole. A cumulative text (similar to 12 Days of Christmas) that explains how a garden works.
The Moonflower by Peter Loewer (an Asheville local). About moonflowers, their pollinators, and what happens around them. A mix of fiction/nonfiction.
Over in the Garden by Jennifer Ward. Use as a counting book, for info about bugs, or sing and play a recorder or other instrument along to the tune of "Over in the Meadow."
Round the Garden by Omri Glaser. Informative, circular text written by an eight year old.
Tops and Bottoms by Janet Stevens. A trickster tale that also shows the differences between root, leaf, and stalk vegetables.
The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle. Story and art explain the life cycle.
Scarlette Beane by Karen Wallace. A tale of growing vegetables and the miracles of the garden.
Eating the Alphabet - Fruits & Vegetables from A to Z by Lois Ehlert. An introduction to new vegetables and fruits with a helpful glossary. (Pair it with a video by Ehlert.)
